Usage notes

Founded in 1959 and administered by the American College of Surgeons. The 8th edition, published in 2016 and implemented in 2018, added biomarkers such as hormone receptor status and HPV status to the staging of breast and oropharyngeal cancers. Updated protocols for individual cancer sites are now released as Version 9 chapters rather than full new editions.
