16PF stands for Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire, a psychology abbreviation.
Personality inventory developed by Raymond Cattell that measures 16 primary traits, such as warmth, dominance, rule-consciousness and apprehension, which combine into five global factors. It is used in career counseling, personnel selection and research.
Example: The 16PF profile showed high rule-consciousness and low tension, suited to the auditing role.
Usage notes
Cattell derived the factors from factor analysis of personality descriptors and first published the questionnaire in 1949; the fifth edition appeared in 1993. Its global factors resemble the Big Five, which emerged partly from reanalyses of Cattell's data.
