Usage notes
Founded in 1988 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, by officials who broke away from the WBA, and still based there. In its early years many fans dismissed it as a minor body. Its belt is now required alongside the WBC, WBA and IBF titles for a fighter to be called undisputed.
