SSgt stands for Staff Sergeant (US Air Force), a US Air Force and Space Force rank abbreviation.
First noncommissioned officer grade in the Air Force, pay grade E-5, worn as four chevrons around a star. Staff sergeants supervise teams, act as trainers and certifiers in their specialty, and are often the "five-level" or "seven-level" technicians running daily work.

Usage notes
