Example: No SAARC summit has been held since 2014 because of tensions between India and Pakistan.
Usage notes
Founded in Dhaka in 1985, it established the South Asian Free Trade Area in 2006. Rivalry between India and Pakistan has left it largely dormant, and India has turned to other groupings such as BIMSTEC. It is pronounced "SARK".
