Reg. stands for Regular (price), an everyday abbreviation.

Shows an item's normal price next to a sale price on tags, flyers and websites, as in "Reg. $49.99, now $29.99." It lets shoppers see the discount.

Example: Wool sweaters now $39.99, Reg. $64.99, through Sunday only.

Usage notes

The Federal Trade Commission's Guides Against Deceptive Pricing say a "regular" or former price should be a genuine price at which the item was actually offered, not an inflated figure. Retailers also use "Orig." for an original price. In other contexts Reg. means registered or regulation.
