RACI stands for Responsible, accountable, consulted, informed, a project management abbreviation.
Responsibility assignment matrix listing tasks or decisions against people or roles and marking who does the work (R), who owns the outcome (A), who gives input (C) and who is kept updated (I).
Example: The RACI makes clear that finance is consulted on the vendor choice but IT is accountable.
Usage notes
Best practice calls for exactly one "A" per task, to avoid diluted ownership. Variants include RASCI, which adds "supportive," and DACI (driver, approver, contributors, informed). RACI charts are a common remedy when projects stall over unclear decision rights. Pronounced "RAY-see."
