PKX stands for Beijing Daxing International Airport, an airport code abbreviation.
Beijing's second major airport, opened in September 2019 about 46 kilometers south of central Beijing. Its starfish-shaped terminal, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, is one of the largest single airport terminals in the world.
Example: Make sure your ticket says PKX, not PEK; the two Beijing airports are more than an hour apart.
Usage notes
ICAO code ZBAD. The radial design keeps the walk from security to the farthest gate comparatively short for its size. China Eastern and China Southern moved much of their Beijing operations there. A high-speed rail line reaches central Beijing in about 20 minutes.
