OF-10 stands for NATO officer grade 10, a military pay grade abbreviation.
Five-star ranks on the NATO scale: US General of the Army, Fleet Admiral and General of the Air Force, British field marshal, admiral of the fleet and marshal of the Royal Air Force. No US officer has held such a rank since 1981.
Example: Neither the United States nor Britain has an active OF-10 officer in a command post.
Usage notes
In Britain these ranks are now mostly honorary or held by senior members of the royal family and retired chiefs of defence. Most NATO nations reserve OF-10 for wartime or do not use it at all.
