NII stands for Net interest income, a banking abbreviation.
Difference between the interest a bank earns on loans and securities and the interest it pays on deposits and other borrowings. It is the largest source of revenue for most commercial banks.
Example: Management raised its full-year NII guidance as loan growth picked up.
Usage notes
NII depends on interest rates, balance-sheet size and the mix of assets and funding, and banks disclose how it would change under rate-shock scenarios. Non-interest income, from fees and trading, is the other main revenue line. For insurers and funds, NII can instead mean net investment income.
