N/P stands for No pets, a classified ad abbreviation.

States that pets are not allowed in a rental, written as N/P or "no pets" in housing listings.

Example: Charming garden-level 1BR, N/P, no smoking, available August 1.

Usage notes

Under US fair housing law, service animals and approved assistance animals are not pets, so no-pets policies must generally accommodate them. Many buildings instead allow pets with a deposit, monthly pet rent or breed and weight limits. Listings may add exceptions such as "cats OK."
