MFP stands for Multifunction printer, a computer hardware abbreviation.
Office or home device that combines printing, scanning, copying and often faxing in one unit, typically networked so a whole office can share it. Consumer versions are often marketed as all-in-one printers.
Example: Scan the signed contract on the hallway MFP and email it to yourself.
Usage notes
Also expanded as multifunction peripheral or device (MFD). Enterprise MFPs include document feeders, stapling, secure badge release of print jobs and cloud connectors. Their hard drives store copies of scanned and printed documents, so secure disposal matters when leases end. Printer makers often earn more from toner and ink than from the machines themselves.
