Usage notes
Created in 1964. Boston's Tremont Street Subway, opened in 1897, was the first subway in the United States, and its Green Line is the oldest still in use. Riders pay with the CharlieCard, named after the song "M.T.A." about a man trapped on the subway. Pronounced as letters or simply "the T."
