JSCM stands for Joint Service Commendation Medal, a military award and decoration abbreviation.
Decoration awarded by the Secretary of Defense for meritorious achievement or service while assigned to a joint activity, such as a combatant command or the Joint Staff.
Example: Her tour on the CENTCOM staff ended with a JSCM.
Usage notes
Established in 1963, it ranks above the individual services' commendation medals. A joint achievement medal (JSAM) recognizes lesser achievement in joint assignments. Members of any service receive it while serving in joint organizations, and additional awards use oak leaf clusters.
