Chinese government plan, launched in 2019, to integrate Hong Kong, Macao and nine cities of Guangdong Province, including Guangzhou and Shenzhen, into one economic region of about 86 million people.
Example: GBA residents can now use Hong Kong bank accounts opened through cross-border schemes.
The plan is modeled loosely on bay-area economies such as San Francisco and Tokyo. The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge, opened in 2018, links the region.

Nintendo's 32-bit handheld console, released in 2001, the successor to the Game Boy Color. It sold about 81 million units with games such as Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire and Metroid Fusion.

The GBA SP (2003) added a clamshell design, a front-lit screen and a rechargeable battery. The Nintendo DS (2004) could play GBA games. GBA titles are now available on Nintendo's online service.
