FITREP stands for Fitness report, a military term abbreviation.
Periodic performance evaluation for Navy officers and for Marine Corps officers and sergeants and above, documenting accomplishments, character, leadership and potential for promotion and command.
Example: My FITREP ranked me first of nine lieutenants in the squadron.
Usage notes
Navy enlisted evaluations are called EVALs for E-1 to E-6 and CHIEFEVALs for chief petty officers. Navy officers are often ranked against peers, and the "early promote" recommendation is limited to a fraction of each group. Pronounced "FIT-rep."
