Usage notes

It belongs to a family of deadline shorthands with EOD (end of day) and EOM (end of month). Where the working week ends on a different day, as in countries with a Friday-Saturday weekend, the actual deadline shifts. Giving the date removes doubt, since "end of week" could mean Friday at 5 p.m. or Sunday night.
