EOMI stands for Extraocular movements intact, a patient assessment abbreviation.
Eye exam finding that the eyes move fully and together in all directions of gaze, usually tested by following a finger in an H pattern. It confirms normal function of cranial nerves III, IV and VI and the six eye muscles.
Example: Eyes: PERRL, EOMI without nystagmus, conjunctivae clear.
Usage notes
Sometimes expanded as "extraocular muscles intact". Double vision, nystagmus or restricted gaze would be documented instead. Orbital floor fractures can trap the inferior rectus muscle and limit upward gaze, a classic finding in facial trauma.
