DSST stands for DANTES Subject Standardized Tests, a standardized test abbreviation.
Credit-by-exam program of about 30 tests in subjects such as business ethics, criminal justice, personal finance and the history of the Vietnam War, now administered by Prometric. Military members can test free through DANTES, and many colleges grant three credits per passing score.
Example: Her DSST in principles of supervision counted as an upper-level business elective.
Usage notes
The tests were originally developed for the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES), and the official name is now simply DSST. The program complements CLEP by covering more upper-level and applied subjects. The American Council on Education reviews the exams and recommends credit amounts.
