Cnty. stands for County, a legal citation abbreviation.
Table T6 abbreviation for "County" in case names and citations, frequent in suits involving county governments, sheriffs, school districts and local officials. In legal citation "Co." means Company, so it must not be used for County.
Example: Shelby Cnty. v. Holder, 570 U.S. 529 (2013), struck down the Voting Rights Act's coverage formula.
Usage notes
In textual sentences, "County" is written in full because it is not among the eight words the Bluebook allows to be abbreviated in text. Case names involving local governments keep the place name, as in "Cnty. of Riverside", but omit phrases like "State of" for states in most circumstances.
