CEH stands for Certified Ethical Hacker, a professional certification abbreviation also used in technology.

Certification from the EC-Council covering tools and techniques that attackers use, so security professionals can test and defend systems. The main exam has 125 multiple-choice questions over four hours, and an optional practical exam tests hands-on skills.

Example: The contractor's penetration testers all hold the CEH or OSCP.

Usage notes

EC-Council introduced the CEH in 2003. Eligibility requires official training or two years of security experience. Some practitioners view hands-on certifications such as the OSCP as more rigorous.
