B1G stands for Big Ten Conference, a sports league and organization abbreviation.
Logo-style abbreviation of the Big Ten, the oldest NCAA Division I conference, which now has 18 members stretching from Rutgers and Maryland in the east to USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington on the Pacific coast. The "1" in the middle represents the "ten."
Example: Michigan's win over Ohio State sent the Wolverines to the B1G title game in Indianapolis.
Usage notes
Founded in 1896 as the Western Conference, and headquartered in Rosemont, Illinois. The conference has not had exactly ten members since inviting Penn State in 1990; the "B1G" logo, which hides an 11 and a 1, was unveiled in 2010 as Nebraska joined. The Big Ten Network, launched in 2007, was the first network owned by a college conference.
