Example: The paper argues that alignment must be solved before anyone attempts to build ASI.
Usage notes
Philosopher Nick Bostrom's 2014 book "Superintelligence" brought the idea to a wide audience, building on I. J. Good's 1965 notion of an "intelligence explosion" in which machines improve themselves. Some AI companies now describe superintelligence as an explicit goal. Critics see the concept as speculative and a distraction from present-day harms.
