Refers to an appendix, supplementary material placed after the main text of a book, report or thesis, in citations and cross-references, as in "see app. B."

Usage notes

The plural appendices (or appendixes) is abbreviated apps. Appendices are lettered or numbered in the order they are mentioned. In US legal citations, "App." often refers to an appellate court, as in Cal. App. In everyday English "app" is a clipping of "application."
