Stands forYear to date
CategoriesBusiness & Finance

YTD stands for Year to date, an accounting abbreviation also used in measurement.

Period from the start of the current year, calendar or fiscal, up to the present date, used to report cumulative figures such as sales, earnings, investment returns or paycheck deductions. It lets progress be measured against annual targets.

Example: The fund is up 9.4 percent YTD, ahead of its benchmark by 1.2 points.

Usage notes

On US pay stubs, YTD columns show cumulative gross pay, taxes and deductions since January 1, which helps employees check withholding. For companies whose fiscal year does not begin in January, YTD in financial reports follows the fiscal year and is sometimes written FYTD. On the last day of the year, the YTD figure becomes the full-year figure.
