XK stands for Kosovo, a country code abbreviation.
User-assigned code used for Kosovo by the European Commission, the IMF and many software systems, because Kosovo, which declared independence from Serbia on February 17, 2008, has no official ISO code. Pristina is the capital.
Example: Bank transfers to XK use IBANs beginning with XK.
Usage notes
ISO reserves codes beginning with X for user assignment, so XK is a convention rather than an official standard. Kosovo uses the euro and has no ccTLD of its own. About half of UN member states recognize it.
