T-SQL stands for Transact-SQL, a data & database abbreviation.
The proprietary SQL dialect of Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL, and originally of Sybase, adding variables, control flow, TRY...CATCH error handling and stored procedures.
Example: The report is generated by a T-SQL stored procedure scheduled in SQL Server Agent.
Usage notes
Originated at Sybase in the 1980s; Microsoft licensed Sybase's database for the first SQL Server, and the two dialects diverged afterward. T-SQL uses TOP where many other databases use LIMIT, and square brackets to quote identifiers. It is the language of SQL Server Management Studio scripts.
