CategoriesTexting & Internet Slang

PIL stands for Parents-in-law, a parenting forum abbreviation.

One's spouse's parents as a pair, as in "PIL are visiting for a week." Common on British forums such as Mumsnet.

Example: PIL want us at theirs for Christmas again, third year in a row.

Usage notes

A handy collective form when MIL and FIL act together. Also used as "the PILs." Rarely seen outside forums, where most people simply write "in-laws."
