ISIR stands for Institutional Student Information Record, an academic abbreviation.
Electronic record of a student's processed FAFSA data that the US Department of Education sends to each college listed on the form. Financial aid offices use it to calculate aid and to flag applications for verification.
Example: The aid office received her ISIR two days after she submitted the FAFSA.
Usage notes
Students receive a parallel summary, now called the FAFSA Submission Summary. Corrections to the FAFSA generate a new ISIR transaction for every listed school. Colleges must resolve conflicting information before disbursing federal aid.
