Usage notes
Founded in 1947 in Vasteras, Sweden, by Erling Persson as Hennes, Swedish for "hers", a women's clothing store. In 1968 he bought the hunting and fishing retailer Mauritz Widforss, adding menswear and the "Mauritz" to the name. The Persson family still controls the company.
