EHT stands for Event Horizon Telescope, an astronomy & Space abbreviation.
Global network of radio telescopes linked by very long baseline interferometry to form a virtual Earth-sized telescope. The EHT produced the first image of a black hole's shadow, in galaxy M87, released in April 2019, and of Sagittarius A* at the Milky Way's center in May 2022.
Example: The EHT image shows a bright ring of hot gas around the dark shadow of the black hole.
Usage notes
Observations were made at a wavelength of 1.3 millimeters, with data from each site stored on hard drives and flown to central computers because the volume was too large to send over the internet. The collaboration involves more than 300 researchers. Later images revealed polarized light tracing magnetic fields near the event horizon.
