Disp stands for Dispense, a prescription abbreviation.
Prescription field stating the total quantity the pharmacist should hand over, such as a number of tablets, a volume or a number of inhalers. Together with the sig, it determines the days' supply billed to insurance.
Example: Disp: #90 (ninety) tablets, 3 refills.
Usage notes
Often followed by "#" (number) and, for controlled substances, by the quantity also written in words to prevent alteration ("#30 (thirty)"). State laws and DEA guidance encourage writing quantities both ways on paper prescriptions for Schedule II drugs.
