CIB stands for Combat Infantryman Badge, a military award and decoration abbreviation.
Badge for US Army infantry and Special Forces soldiers who personally fought in active ground combat while assigned to an infantry or Special Forces unit. It is one of the Army's most respected badges.
Example: Grandpa's CIB from Korea is framed above the fireplace.
Usage notes
Created in 1943 during World War II. Stars above the musket indicate awards for separate wars, and only a few soldiers have earned it three times. Non-infantry soldiers who engage the enemy receive the Combat Action Badge instead.
