BS/MD stands for Combined bachelor's and medical degree program, an academic abbreviation.

Program that admits high school seniors to both an undergraduate college and a partner medical school, usually with conditional guaranteed admission to medical school if students maintain set grades and MCAT scores. Programs take six to eight years.

Example: Brown's PLME is one of the best-known BS/MD programs, lasting eight years.

Usage notes

Also written BA/MD. Accelerated versions compress college into two or three years, as at the University of Missouri-Kansas City's six-year program. Admission is extremely competitive, often with acceptance rates in the low single digits. Some programs waive the MCAT requirement.
